Thomas (Tom) Gustave Mundy, Jr. of Covington, Ga., formerly of Atlanta/Decatur, Ga. an accountant and income tax practitioner, died December 4, 2025. He was 101.
Funeral services will be at Church of the Epiphany on Saturday, January 10 at 2PM. The service will be live streamed https://www.epiphany.org/
The son of the Rev. Thomas G. Mundy and Annie Lytton Lowman Mundy, he graduated from high school in Valdosta, Ga. He served with the 11th Cavalry Group, 13th Corps 9th Army in World War II as a radio operator.
After graduating from Stetson University, Deland, Fla. he held several positions with Courts & Co., investment bankers, ending as paymaster. He was there 22 years and with the Citizens and Southern Bank for 15 years.
During this period from 1955 over 50 years, he was an income tax preparer. At one time he handled over one-third of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra players.
Active In the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Atlanta, he served as vestryman, choir member, usher, parking foreman, newsletter mailing foreman, and Sunday bulletin editor. He joined Epiphany in 1950.
He was an election official for a DeKalb Co. precinct for 12 years, serving as manager for 4- years. When he moved to Covington, he worked the polls in Newton Co.
"He wrote three books - My World War II Adventures, Church of the Epiphany History, and The Mundy Genealogy book.
He was married to the late Elizabeth Stanley Weinschenk Mundy for 47 years and Nell Pennington Blair Mundy for 15.
He is survived by his son Daniel B Mundy, grandson Stewart D Mundy, nieces Ann Harrell and Nell Hayes.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 2089 Ponce de Leon Ave. N. E., Atlanta, Ga. 30307.
