Vernon E. Arneson, 83, of Atlanta died July 11, 2013, at the Atlanta V. A. Hospital Nursing Home. He served his county in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Arneson was a proud and faithful member to The American Legion for over 55 years. His outstanding leadership qualities were noteworthy to The American Legion while serving in many capacities, including Post Commander of Post 1 in Atlanta. One of Mr. Arneson's greatest loves was the untold hours he volunteered as the American Legion representative to the Atlanta V. A. Hospital. He was a member of Living Grace Lutheran Church. Mr. Arneson was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Wathke Arneson, and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Ruthann Arneson and their children, Emma and Ethan; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Denzine and their children, Jason, Daniel, Tyler, James and Jordan; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cappi Arneson and their children, Morgan, Ashley and Reagan; sister, Carol Nelson. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013, Living Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Hardy officiating. Placement of the urns of both Mr. and Mrs. Arneson will take place at Noon, Friday, October 25, 2013, at Georgia National Cemetery with military honors.
