Wesley (Wes) David Chavis of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Montgomery, AL, passed away on July 16, 2023 following a brief, yet courageous battle with an aggressive cancer.
Wes was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, grandson, and friend. He was born February 19, 1979 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and lived in a handful of different cities as an Air Force kid before his family settled in Montgomery. Wes graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Political Science and although he followed politics throughout his life, he pursued a career in technology. For more than ten years, Wes enjoyed his work with Apple products. His expertise made him the go-to IT guy for everyone.
Wes was a warm, kind, and loyal man who loved his family, his wife, Bridgid, and young sons, above all else. He particularly enjoyed his weekends away in the mountains of North Georgia with his family- hiking the trails and exploring waterfalls.
Wes was funny and charismatic and his smile lit up any room. He was an avid Alabama football fan and you could always find him cheering on the Crimson Tide. He stayed close with many of his high school and college buddies and looked forward to visits and adventures with them.
Wes also had a green thumb and one of his favorite hobbies in recent years was finding struggling plants to rehab. His gardening skills made his house a truly beautiful home filled with thriving plants.
Wes is survived by his wife, Dr. Bridgid Lammers Chavis, three sons Samuel (age 6), James (age 3), and Lyle (age 5 months), his parents Richard and Cathy Chavis of Pike Road, AL, his sister Ashley Chavis and her husband, Devin Vermeulen, his nieces June and Bobbie Vermeulen and nephews Oscar Vermeulen and Tristan Palmer, his maternal grandmother Sara Maloney of Murfreesboro, TN, his paternal grandfather William S. Chavis of Foley, AL, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom loved Wes dearly and will miss him greatly.
