William C. (Bill) Watson, Iii

William (Bill) C. Watson, III passed away on September 12th after a ten month battle with cancer. Bill was born in Columbia, SC on July 19, 1954 and raised in Atlanta. He graduated from Briarcliff High School in 1972 and West Georgia College with a degree in Psychology. While growing up he enjoyed Boy Scouts and baseball. He worked as an Emergency Room tech at Grady Hospital, an EMT, and most recently as a massage therapist and Reiki instructor. He was an animal lover, an avid fisherman and gardener. He was also well known for his bar-b-que skills and loved to cook for a crowd. Bill was the only son of William C. Watson, Jr. and Margie Chapman Watson and is survived by his father and sister, Karen Watson Rowles of Decatur and her husband, Tom; nieces, Kelli Davis (Wade) and Katherine Rowles; nephew, Andrew Rowles (Chaffraix); great niece and nephews, Haley, Kyle, Canon, and Jake Davis and Hudson and Silas Rowles. He married his loving wife, Vicki Wright Watson on November 6, 2010 and was welcomed into her family which includes Stacy, David, Colin, Julianna Henderson; Courtney, Wes, Wesley, Morgan Smith; Joy, Julian Gomez, Tristen Szarek; Jay, Jessica, Jaden Wright; and Bill and Nancy Wright. Bill is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Katie Macon, Zack and Peggy Watson, and Keturah Watson, Howard and Bessie Chapman, Raymond and Retha Chapman, all of South Carolina, and many cousins. The family will welcome visitors at the A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur on Saturday, September 22nd between 3pm - 4:30pm. A memorial service will follow at 4:30 in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a contribution be made to the Peachtree Christian Hospice of Duluth, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, Ga 30096, United Hospice or the charity of your choice. We wish to thank the wonderful staff at United Hospice and Peachtree Christian Hospice for their exceptional care during Bill's last illness. Bill showed courage and dignity in his battle with cancer and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
