William "Bill" Broyles Cutts II, 61, of Avondale Estates, GA passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2024.
Bill was born on October 7, 1963, on Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, GA, and grew up in Greenville, SC. He was the beloved only child of Pat (Boyce) and Bill Cutts. He attended J.L. Mann High School. Continuing his education at Georgia Tech, he earned multiple degrees: a Bachelor's in Physics, a Master's in Applied Physics, and a Master's in Science from the School of Electrical Engineering. While earning his degrees, Bill spent several years with his fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha making many lifetime friends. His love for football was evident in his purchase of season tickets, which he attended with his fraternity brothers every fall and the many football-watching parties and lengthy football discussions Bill had with his friends.
Bill had a wide catalog of music knowledge that he loved to share with his friends, family, and anyone who passed his yellow Jeep. He enjoyed all genres of music from opera to funk to progressive rock.
Bill's career began as a Senior Scientist at Cross Systems, followed by his time at Motorola where he served as a Systems Engineer and later a role as their Regional Sales Manager. He continued similar positions at Microware, Wind River, and Lineo, in addition to being a Sales Specialist at Sun Microsystems. He eventually returned to Georgia Tech, to work at Georgia Tech Research Institute as their Director of Strategic Partners, later moving to the Office of Corporate Engagement where he worked as a Senior Director. He was a largely respected leader, with influential roles in technology and strategic partnerships throughout his career.
One of the only things Bill loved more than Tech was his family, as they were his greatest joy. Bill and Lou had a 9 year-long courtship and were finally married on September 26, 1998, at Grace United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA. They were happily married for 26 loving years. He was a devoted father to his two daughters Kathleen "Katie" and Corinne "Coco", whom he loved and cherished dearly. He loved relaxing with his family and capturing their time together in photographs which he happily shared with his parents.
Bill was a longtime member of Decatur First United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lou Callaway, daughters Katie and Coco Cutts; and his parents, Pat and Bill Cutts. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.
His legacy of love, leadership, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A service to honor Bill's life will be held on Thursday, October 24th, at 3 p.m. at Decatur First United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be on Friday, October 25th, at 3 p.m. at Wild Heaven Brewery in Avondale Estates.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill's name may be directed to Decatur First United Methodist Church, Lifeline Animal Hospital, Alexander-Tharpe Fund, or your favorite charity.
