Cy began his career in funeral service in 1990 in his hometown of LaGrange, Georgia, at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked while attending mortuary school at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, Georgia, and Tom Stutts Funeral Home in Franklin, Georgia. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1995 and later that year earned both his funeral director and embalmer licenses.

Following licensure, Cy worked with Passmore-Sumner Funeral Home in Valdosta, Georgia, and Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in both Columbus and LaGrange before joining A.S. Turner in 2006.

In addition to his state licenses, Cy holds the Certified Funeral Service Practitioner designation from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. He is also a Certified Crematory Operator and is certified in Natural Organic Reduction through the Cremation Association of North America.

Cy is active in the National Funeral Directors Association, the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia, Selected Independent Funeral Homes, and serves on the Forensic Medicine Association Foundation. He currently serves as a board member of the Selected Independent Education Trust and on the Advisory Board for the Mortuary Science Program at West Georgia Technical College. He also served for many years on the Advisory Board for Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. In 2017, Cy received the President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Georgia Funeral Directors Association.

In his spare time, Cy enjoys spending time outdoors. He is the proud father of three children and the grandfather of four grandchildren. He also cherishes his fur baby, Mr. Benny.

Because of his dedication and commitment to the Turner Family and the values that form the foundation of A.S. Turner & Sons, Cy was afforded the opportunity to become a partial owner of the firm in 2015.  Today, he and Jane Turner are equal partners in A.S. Turner & Sons.

Tommy is a native of Gwinnett County and is a second generation funeral director and embalmer. He is a 2014 graduate of Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He is a 2016 Mu Sigma Alpha graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service where he was Valedictorian of his class and received the Bill Pierce Award. Tommy is past president of the Theta chapter of the Pi Sigma Eta National Morticians Fraternity and previously served on the advisory board of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Prior to joining the staff of A. S. Turner & Sons, he held management positions with a large funeral service corporation and appreciates being involved in a locally, family owned and operated funeral home. Tommy, his wife Carlie, and his son Tripp reside in Loganville.

Scott grew up in LaGrange, Georgia, and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Georgia since 1994. He is a graduate of Troup County High School and attended Southern Union State Junior College and the University of Phoenix.  


Scott began his career in funeral service in 1990 and served his apprenticeship at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange, Georgia. He is a 1994 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta. In 1995, he began what would become almost 20-year employment with a major corporation serving in various capacities, including funeral director (Columbus, Georgia), location manager (LaGrange, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina), and Corporate Manager of Compliance and Quality Assurance for the Southeast (Houston, Texas). 


In 2014, Scott went to work for a small consolidator of funeral homes in Tennessee that operated 12 funeral home and crematory locations and one cemetery, and he served as their Chief Operating Officer for four years. In 2019, he joined A.S. Turner & Sons, and he supervises administrative services, which include finance, accounting, bookkeeping, death certificates, and general office administration. When needed, he also assists the operational funeral directors and staff, along with our client-families.

Michelle is a funeral director and embalmer supervisor. She is a California native who now lives in Watkinsville, Georgia, with her partner, Tony. She graduated from Cypress College of Mortuary Science and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer in California since 1986 and in Georgia since 2001. Michelle is also a Certified Crematory Operator and a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. 


Michelle joined our staff in January 2007. Her 30-plus years of experience includes several years as a forensic embalmer and autopsy technician for the Riverside County Coroner's office in California. She has two grown children and enjoys reading, crafts, traveling, and spoiling her two Maine Coon cats, ThunderStorm and BellaDonna.

A native of Virginia, Ryan moved to Atlanta in 2016 and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in March of 2018.  He began his apprenticeship with A.S. Turner & Sons in April of 2018, received his funeral director and embalmer license in the State of Georgia in 2020, and is a certified crematory operator. Because of his outstanding service, Ryan was our 2020 employee of the year. 


Ryan is married to his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth, and they have two fur babies, Petal and Athena.

Austin is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia and North Carolina. A native of Tennessee, he now lives in Marietta, GA, with his husband, Joseph.

A graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, Austin has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Georgia since 2017 and in North Carolina since 2018. He is also a certified crematory operator and a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia.

Austin joined our staff in 2025. Throughout his career, he has specialized in embalming and reconstructive work. In his free time, he enjoys music, traveling, and auto mechanics.

Garrett Cooper joined A.S. Turner & Sons in 2009. He handles our preplanning arrangements and is our Aftercare Counselor, helping families navigate through the many things that must be handled after the funeral service. 


Garrett hails from the small northern Michigan town of Charlevoix. While getting his bachelor’s degree at The University of West Florida, he met his wife.  Upon graduating, he began a career in banking and went on to attain his insurance and brokerage licenses. He attended the University of Maryland-University Campus master’s program in finance.

Danielle Stiner is a valued member of our accounting and administrative team. She is currently pursuing her MBA at Georgia State University. She has actively contributed to various community initiatives, including collaborating with the non-profit organization Park Pride to enhance neighborhood parks. Furthermore, she engaged in the citizen academy program with the Dekalb County Police Department and has demonstrated a commitment to serving the Decatur community by working with several local non-profits. Having relocated to Atlanta seven years ago, she currently resides in Decatur with her two children and three pets. Her interests include spending quality time with her children and friends, as well as exploring the great outdoors.

Chad graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in August of 1996. After serving his apprenticeship at Hemperly Funeral Home in East Point, he became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1998. He then received licenses in California in 1999 and Alabama in 2009. Chad was sponsored and granted membership to the British Institute of Embalmers in May of 2006.

 

Chad is married to Soledad, and together they have a son, Andre. All three reside in Buford, Georgia, with their fur babies, Ramses the cat, and Claire the Duchess of Summerset the poodle. He is a member of the Gainesville Elks Lodge #1126, and when he isn't at work, he enjoys cooking, spending time with animals and his family, and playing golf, chess, and bridge.

Timotheous is a Funeral Director/ Embalmer with over 30 years of experience. Timotheous is a native of Tupelo, MS where he had worked on his profession at Grayson- Porter’s Mortuary in Tupelo, and Kenneth I. Robinson Funeral home in Pontotoc. MS.


Timotheous graduated from Gupton- Jones College of Funeral Services of Decatur, GA in August 2005 and since then, has received multiple awards and accolades within funeral services.


He is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers and also a member of Masonic Lodge #494 Ivaho and Royal Arch Chapter #19 in Chesterville, MS.


Timotheous has proudly served in the community volunteering in Young men of Valor at the Boys and Girls Club,Toys for Tots, and feeding the less fortunate in the Metro- Atlanta and Gwinnett County.


He is married to Althea Springer. Together they have 6 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild on the way.


Timotheous loves spending time with family, going to church, listening to all genres of music, outdoors, and spending time with his very spoiled yorkie poo, Zeus.

Trey is a Funeral Director/Embalmer with over 30 years of experience. He is a native of Covington, Tennessee who now lives in Decatur, GA. He is a graduate of Northwest Mississippi Community College in Southaven, MS. Trey is a licensed Funeral Director in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia.


Trey joined A.S. Turner & Sons in October 2024. He has served his community in many different capacities over the years. He spent over 25 years as a reserve fireman in Brandon Mississippi, a certified weather spotter, a Deputy Medical Examiner Investigator in Mississippi, and as a critical incidence response debriefing coordinator. He has previously been a member of Rotary International, Lions Club, and Optimist Club.


He is married to Joi Gandy Britt. Together they have 3 adult girls and their husbands as well as 3 grandchildren that they love to spoil. During his spare time, you will find him attending or watching a sporting event or enjoying the outdoors. He is an avid Mississippi State and University of Memphis fan as well as the Memphis Grizzlies fan. Since moving to the area, he will also be supporting the local Atlanta teams.


He looks forward to serving the wonderful citizens of the Decatur Georgia area for many years.

Ruby Williams, a native of Decatur, Georgia, is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, certified by the state of Georgia. She is a proud graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where she developed a strong foundation in funeral care, embalming techniques, and compassionate service to families during their time of need.


In May 2023, Ruby joined the dedicated team at A.S. Turner & Sons, bringing with her a passion for service, attention to detail, and a deep respect for the traditions and values of the funeral profession. Her calm presence and empathetic nature make her a comforting guide for families navigating loss.


Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ruby enjoys spending her free time reading a good book, tackling challenging sudoku puzzles, and binge-watching popular TV shows from the early 2000s.

Madeleine is a native of Woodstock, GA who moved to Atlanta in 2020. She graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's in Anthropology in 2022 and then completed her funeral service education at Gupton-Jones College in 2024. Madeleine has been an employee of A.S. Turner since March of 2023, where she finished her apprenticeship. In her free time she enjoys hiking mountains, cooking, and attending local concerts.

Nataly Mejia graduated from Gupton-Jones Mortuary School in Atlanta, Georgia in 2024 and is a certified crematory operator currently pursuing her Georgia license in funeral directing and embalming. Fluent in Spanish, she is passionate about serving diverse families and providing compassionate support during one of life's most difficult moments.


Nataly's goal is to make the grieving process less overwhelming by guiding families with care, dignity, and understanding. She believes that thoughtful service can help bring comfort and ease during times of loss.


Outside of her professional life, Nataly enjoys thrifting, trying new local restaurants, reading, and spending time with her cat, Peanut.

Victor Economy has been with A.S. Turner & Sons since June of 2023. He is native of Atlanta and graduated from Druid Hills High School. Following high school, he attended and graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he met his wife, Theodora. Victor and Theodora have been married since 1983 and are the proud parents of three daughters as well as grandparents to seven grandchildren. In his spare time, Victor enjoys working in his yard as well as creating elaborate Christmas light displays to help spread joy during the Christmas season. Over the past several years, his display, A Whole Lot of Christmas, has helped to raise money for Make-A-Wish Georgia and grant wishes for local children. Prior to joining A.S. Turner & Sons, he had a successful career owning and operating Economy Auto Sales for over 33 years in Decatur. He is grateful to A.S. Turner & Sons for the opportunity to continue working and serving families in his community.

Anthony joined the A.S. Turner & Sons staff in 2015 to apprentice under long-time groundskeeper and maintenance specialist Harry Searcy. Once Mr. Searcy retired, Anthony took over the care and maintenance of the building, grounds, and vehicles for the funeral home.

Reverend Larry Temple Burgess has almost 50 years of experience in pastoral ministry.  He holds a B.A. degree from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, and a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. 


He was born and reared in Ocala, Florida, where he met his wife, Nancy, in kindergarten. They have one daughter, Joanna, who is married to Thomas Hardy. 


Rev. Burgess serves in two roles with A.S. Turner & Sons: ministering to families who have experienced the death of a loved one and assisting the funeral directors so that they are free to do what they do best. Rev. Burgess’ favorite leisure-time activity is fishing.
