Obituary for Grace B. Beck

Grace B. Beck, former resident of Brookvalley Lane NE in Atlanta, passed away peacefully at 99 years of age in Tiverton, Rhode Island on February 14, 2018.

Raised on a farm in rural Michigan, one of eight children, she eventually attended Western Michigan University to earn a teaching certificate. Upon graduation she taught at the elementary and high school levels in Michigan and California. After the outbreak of World War II she became a riveter at the Ford Motor Company's Willow Run Bomber plant, advancing from the assembly line to testing engines for B-24 and B-17 bombers.

After the war she continued working for Ford Motor Company until returning to teaching at Southfield High School in Detroit. In the mid 1960's she married Walter H. Beck and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where they owned and operated several bowling alleys. In the mid 1970's she was widowed but continued to operate their multiple business ventures until late in life.

She is survived by her sister Helen Winter as well as five nephews and two nieces.

Her final resting place is at the Floral Hill Memory Gardens Cemetery in Tucker, Georgia.
